Job Description:
What You'll be Doing:
Install hardware in wood and metal doors, cabinets, desk drawers, cases, and similar fixtures, including locks, closers, knobs, thumb turns, and panic hardware. Work from blueprints or develop drawings as needed. Cut door pockets, drill holes, and fit and test locks and other hardware. Perform lock pinning, keying, key system generation, re-keying operations, and key-making. Reset safe combinations and perform repairs as needed. Disassemble and repair various locks, including padlocks, combination locks, deadbolts, safes, and door locks. Shorten steel and wooden doors and reset or repair thresholds using expansion anchors and cement drills. Install doors and frames. Open broken locks or locks for which keys are unavailable using specialized lock tools. Train and assist lower-level locksmiths. Overtime may be required. The position requires carrying a pager and being subject to 24-hour callback.
The typical work schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified Candidates Will Need:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5+ years of locksmith experience
  • Locksmith certification and University locksmith experience preferred

Skills Needed:
  • Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with supervisor, co-workers and customers
  • Must have ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of the relevant equipment, machines and tools is required to promote security and protection of people, data and property
  • Must be able to install equipment to meet appropriate standards
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills and a familiarity with word processors and spreadsheets
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 to 80 lbs. frequently, and up to 100 lbs. or more occasionally
  • Exposure to adverse conditions, including hot and cold temperatures, loud noise, machinery, moving parts, sharp objects, low voltage electricity and steam pipes and tunnels
  • Valid driver's license is required
