Job description

The Early Childhood Learning Center and Lily House at Ursuline Academy of New Orleans seek a dedicated substitute teacher for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. The ideal candidate should love young children, substitute teaching experience, remain calm while multitasking, and approach the work with inquisitiveness and curiosity. The most qualified and successful candidates can count on consistent work throughout the entire year.

Responsibilities
• Follow teacher’s instructions for lesson plan, or create lesson plan if none is available,
• Maintain discipline in the classroom and foster a safe, productive learning environment in accordance with school policies,
• Compile report for teacher that includes student attendance, lesson-plan progress, disciplinary actions, and positive developments,

Minimum skills and qualifications
• Superb verbal and written skills,
• Flexibility and patience in scheduling,
• Successfully complete a criminal background check,
• Meets and maintains all federal, state, and local requirements to work in an educational childcare setting,

Preferred skills and qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in early childhood education,
• Certificate or credential for teaching in Louisiana,
• Ability to communicate in more than one language,
