Would you love a job where you help kids build with LEGOs, make slime and invent thing and learn about amazing and cool stuff?ย At B3 we teach coding, robotics and science to kids ages 3 - 12. We are currently hiring 1 or 2 teachers to work with children after school and on weekends to teach coding, robotics and science. This is a great position for education students, teacher assistants, retired teachers, teachers taking a break from the classroom or current teachers who want to bring something different to their after-school program.

Bricks Bots & Beakers (B3) is an exciting education company that creates meaningful opportunities for children to experience a full range of STEM classes, camps, parties and workshops. The B3 after school program uses session-based classes, which can vary from 5 to 12 weeks in length. Classes focus on one of three different areas: BRICKS โ€“ Engineering using LEGO and other materials, BOTS โ€“ robotics and programming and BEAKERS โ€“ science activities. Some of our favorite classes include Gross Out Chemistry (BEAKERS), Elementary Engineering with LEGO Machines (BRICKS) and Battle Botsย (BOTS). While our classes are educational, an emphasis on fun, engaging activities is extremely important.

As a B3 teacher you will teach STEM skills and concepts to develop 21st century learners. Weekly classes are held at local elementary schools or at B3 located in Washington, NJ. Most classes are held between 2 pm โ€“ 7ย pm. For classes at local schools, teachers typically need to be on location 15 minutes prior to dismissal, will teach a one-hour class, and remain on location for another 15 minutes after the end of class. Depending on the class, a one-hour class requires 1.5 to 2 hours of work per week (including prep, set-up and clean-up). Classes at B3 generally last an hour per class. There can be up to 3 classes per day as well as classes on Saturdays. Ideally, you would be able to teach at least 2 daysย per week. You donโ€™t have to know science and robotics to teach our classes! But you do need a love of teaching and learning! We will provide all the curriculum, materials and training you need.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recording attendance and dismissal
  • Confirming absences when necessary
  • Structuring your instructional groups
  • Implementing lessons according to B3 curriculum and lesson planning guidelines
  • Communicating with parents when necessary
  • Submitting a weekly report to our office for off site classes

An Ideal Candidate:

  • Has experience working with groups of children ages 5 - 12
  • Has reliable transportation, a driverโ€™s license and car insurance
  • Lives locally (see areas seeking locations below)
  • Has strong time management and organization skills
  • Enjoys STEM concepts
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint criminal background check
  • Can teach a flexible after school schedule
  • Can commit for the remainder of the school year (flexible end date for student teachers)

Education

  • Prefer Minimum of Associates degree in Childhood Development or similar background. Will consider applicants with classroom / daycare experience or those pursuing a child development or education degree.

Pay: $18ย to $25ย per hour (depending on class type, skills required and experience); Assistants: $15 per hour
