Description

Position Objective:

To support the Corporate Legal Affairs division of the Legal Department by providing administrative services on a wide range of corporate matters that arise during the conduct of the charitable programs of the organization and its supported organizations


Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

Support the General Counsel with their management of the operations and affairs of the Corporate Legal Affairs division under their supervision

   o Assist the Corporate Paralegal and Legacy Realization Coordinator by processing planned giving communications, including:

     - Reviewing and summarizing documents such as wills, trusts, deeds, and correspondence

     - Reviewing, suggesting revisions to, and preparing for the General Counsel's signature receipts, releases, indemnification agreements, and other legal instruments

     - Preparing, sending, and filing correspondence and other communications, application and distribution forms, and legal instruments

     - Communicating with external representatives overseeing gifts and asset distribution, including professional and lay executors, administrators and trustees, and attorneys and corporate fiduciaries

    - Maintaining accurate records of legacies and efforts in furtherance of their realization 

   o Drafting and incorporating template addenda into simple contracts

   o Processing requests relating to and maintaining the organization's time-managed contract database

   o Reviewing reported lobbying activity data, and drafting and submitting lobbyist registration and activity disclosure forms

   o Processing the Legal Department's invoices and credit card reports

   o Reviewing and returning or routing voicemail messages as needed

   o Processing the Legal Department's mail

Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

An associate's degree and five years of experience in the areas identified under Primary Responsibilities and Duties, or a bachelor's degree and three years of experience in those areas

Ability to work in the organization's Washington, D.C. office daily

Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills

Proven organizational skills and attention to detail

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks within strict time constraints

Experience with Microsoft 365 programs

Commitment to the objectives of the organization


The hourly pay range for this position is $19.61 - $23.79. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate's experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
