Job Description:
The Assistant Learning Specialist will be responsible for a caseload of academically at-risk student-athletes at the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes (CCACSA), and will help provide the support necessary to assist student-athletes in reaching their full potential. The CCACSA Assistant Learning Specialist will work in conjunction with Educational Support Services team to provide the necessary support and guidance for students in their charge. The CCACSA Assistant Learning Specialist will complete other administrative duties to be assigned by their manager and must be willing to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends. All employees are expected to comply with all CCACSA, LSU, SEC, and NCAA rules and regulations. This position will report to the Learning Specialist within Educational Support Services. The Assistant Learning Specialist position is a part-time appointment for a period of one year - July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The position will be paid a competitive hourly rate (based on degree attainment) for time worked, up to 29 hours per week.
Job Duties: 100%
Work one-on-one with student-athletes on assigned caseload or in small groups to build fundamental academic skills using direct instruction methods & appropriate learning strategies.
Create a balanced schedule of appointments each semester to meet consistently with assigned students on caseload.
Collaborate with Educational Support Services team regarding individual learning needs and academic progress of students.
Provide accurate and timely communication and reports to learning specialists and academic advising staff members.
Conduct small and/or large group study halls.
Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students and staff.
Participate in scheduled staff and unit meetings.
Assist any staff member in need of administrative support.Complete all mandatory staff and campus trainings including but not limited to NCAA compliance, Title IX, and Ethics.
Participate in Graduate Assistant Development Program, to include attending scheduled workshops and completing assigned activities/journals
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
