Location: 2825 S. 200 E. South Salt Lake City, UT | Schedule: Monday through Thursday 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Friday 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM | Type: Full-Time | FLSA: Non-Exempt

As a Central Kitchen Steward, you'll play an essential role in supporting our kitchen operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and inspection-ready environment. Your work directly supports the preparation of nutritious meals for children and families in our community.
What You'll Do
- Operate, sanitize, and maintain kitchen equipment.
- Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen vessels.
- Sweep, mop, and maintain clean kitchen, warehouse, and dishwashing areas.
- Dispose of waste and recycling while monitoring chemical levels.
- Assist with food preparation as directed by the Kitchen Manager.
- Properly store food and supplies, load and unload inventory, and report maintenance or safety concerns.
What We're Looking For
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
- Comfortable working efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Reliable attendance, professionalism, and effective communication in English.
- Team-oriented, flexible, and accountable.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods. Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, climbing, and pushing/pulling are part of the job.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to drive an agency vehicle when needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Current Food Handler's Permit or ability to obtain one within two weeks of hire.
Preferred:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2–3 years of kitchen experience.
Additional Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing a background check, a drug and alcohol screening, a sex offender registry check, a child abuse/neglect check, and meeting all Head Start health requirements.
