About the Role

Do you review an insurance estimate and immediately notice what's missing?

At Kern's Roofing & Restoration, we're looking for an experienced Insurance Estimator who understands insurance claims, building codes, and proper restoration practices. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in writing accurate estimates, negotiating supplements, and ensuring homeowners receive everything they're entitled to under their insurance policy.

You'll manage projects from the initial estimate through final approval while working alongside our sales and production teams to restore roofing, siding, windows, and gutter projects throughout Northeast Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, code-compliant Xactimate estimates
  • Review insurance carrier scopes and identify omitted or underpaid items
  • Write and submit supplements with supporting documentation
  • Negotiate directly with insurance adjusters
  • Track claims, supplements, and approvals from start to finish
  • Assist sales representatives during insurance inspections and claim reviews
  • Maintain organized claim documentation and customer communication
  • Coordinate with production to ensure approved scopes match project needs
  • Advocate for homeowners while maintaining professional relationships with insurance carriers

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 2 years of insurance estimating experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Xactimate
  • Experience writing and negotiating insurance supplements
  • Ability to identify missing line items, code upgrades, and overlooked damage
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred

Experience estimating:

  • Roofing
  • Vinyl & Aluminum Siding
  • Gutters
  • Windows

Experience with:

  • EagleView
  • Hover
  • AccuLynx
  • CompanyCam
  • Residential building codes
  • Manufacturer installation requirements
