Instructional Support Compensation Plan
Salary Range: Mesquite ISD - Compensation Plans
Shift Type: Full-Time
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To:ย Principal

EMPLOYMENT BEGINS:ย As soon as possibleย 



PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • ย To assist in clerical duties and instructional responsibilities working under the direction of the Inclusion Teacher.ย 

QUALIFICATIONS:ย 
Education/Certification:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Texas Educational Aide Certificate

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Ability to work with children with disabilities
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectivelyย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 

EXPERIENCE:

  • None prior experience working with children with learning disabilities preferred.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist classroom teachers in preparation of classroom teaching materials and bulletin boards.ย ย 
  • Operate standard office machines.
  • Set up and operate audio-visual equipment and computers.
  • Assist with the instructional program under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
  • Work with an individual student and/or a small group of students
  • reinforcing academic, behavioral, or development skills.
  • Perform routine clerical tasks, data collection, and grading under the direction and supervision of a certified teacher.
  • Assist assessment team by administering achievement and/or development tests.
  • Help manage the behavior of assigned students.
  • Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of assigned students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Other School Health and Related Services (SHARS) duties as assigned

  • None

Mental Demands:

  • Use common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Writing simple correspondence and effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.

Physical demands/environmental factors:

  • Standing, walking, talking, and hearing.ย ย ย ย ย ย ย 
  • Reaching with hands and arms and frequently repeating the same hand, arm or finger motion.
  • Lifting/moving up to 10 pounds such as supplies of copier paper.
  • Moderate noise level in the work environment
