Waggoner is looking for a Hydrology and Hydraulics Design Engineer to join our growing team and support a diverse portfolio of drainage and water resources projects. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of technical design tasks, contribute to meaningful infrastructure improvements, and work alongside experienced engineers across multiple disciplines. - Roadway Drainage Systems Design (MS DOT experience preferred)ย
- Stormwater Managementย
- Detention and Retention Pond and Outfall Design and Analysisย
- Bridge Hydraulics and Scour Analysisย
- Erosion Control Design and Analysisย
- Watershed Hydrology and Drainage Studiesย
- Open Channel Hydraulics Design and Analysisย
- Channel Stabilizationย
- Hydraulic Modeling (HEC-RAS 1D/2D, MS DOT, HydroWIN, FHWA HY-8 and Hydraulic Toolbox)ย
- Design of Hydraulic Structuresย
- Floodplain Mapping and FEMA Modeling support
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and design calculations for a variety of infrastructure and land development projectsย
- Develop and review drainage reports, design plans, and supporting documentationย
- Utilize modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, and related tools to evaluate drainage systems and flood impactsย
- Support project managers in developing scope, schedule, and budgets for H&H-related tasksย
- Coordinate with internal teams across transportation, site development, and environmental disciplinesย
- Assist with preparation of permit applications and coordination with regulatory agencies, including FEMA and DOT
- Participate in field reviews and provide construction phase support as neededย
- Ensure quality and accuracy of work through QA/QC processesย
- Build and maintain relationships with clients through project delivery and communicationย
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing guidance on technical work and best practicesย
- Stay current on industry standards, regulations, and emerging tools related to hydrology and hydraulicsย
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field requiredย
- 4 to 8 years of relevant hydrology and hydraulics experienceย
- Experience with H&H modeling software (HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, etc.)ย
- Familiarity with FEMA regulations, floodplain management, and DOT standards is preferredย
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mississippi, or ability to obtain within 6 monthsย
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
