HR Assistant
Government Contracting Firm
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Assistant to join our team at a firm specializing in government contracting. The HR Assistant will support daily HR operations, ensure compliance with federal regulations, and help maintain a positive workplace culture. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, adaptable, and interested in growing their HR career within a regulated environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes for employees and contractors.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and contract-specific requirements (e.g., E-Verify, background checks, security clearances).
- Support benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and responding to employee inquiries.
- Track and report employee timekeeping, leave, and attendance in accordance with contract and DOL requirements.
- Prepare HR documentation, reports, and correspondence as needed.
- Help coordinate training and compliance programs, including annual certifications and government-mandated trainings.
- Respond to employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Support HR audits and assist with maintaining compliance documentation for government contracts.
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives and internal communications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 3+ years of HR experience; experience in government contracting or a regulated industry is a plus.
- Working knowledge of HR processes, labor law, and compliance (FLSA, EEO, OFCCP, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting security clearance processes.
- Familiarity with government contract compliance requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
