Job description

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth! Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a House Parent at San Pasqual Academy in Escondido, California.

San Pasqual Academy is located on a beautiful 238 acres in rural San Pasqual Valley. SPA is equipped with all the amenities of a private high school, including classrooms, an auditorium, gym, and cafeteria. On grounds sports and activities include basketball, softball, and football. Our unique campus features residential staff and house parents serving as surrogate parents who mentor and tutor students, teach age-appropriate independent living skills, create opportunities to explore new interests, encourage participation in sports and recreation, assist in the exploration of career and job opportunities, and promote family living skills.

Pay: 19.00/hr. $1500 Training and Longevity Bonus (Paid out: $1000 at 90 days upon completion and demonstration of trainings, $500 at 6 months of employment)

What you will do: As a House Parent, you will be living onsite and considered a direct-care staff member who is responsible for providing a homelike environment through positive mentoring, instruction and supervision of youth. The house parent follows prudent parent standards. As a House Parent, you’ll provide safety and supervision for the youth in our program and provide an atmosphere that is supportive of the needs of the students.  You’ll monitor and document student behaviors and activities, participate and assist with educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities, and work in collaboration with other professional staff to establish and/or meet the goals of each student’s treatment plan. 

To be considered you should: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent ~ Be at least 21 years of age ~ Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, physical, and TB test ~ Be able to pass a search of the child abuse central registry. Have at least 1 year experience working with At-Risk Youth population and/or Foster Youth.

Schedule: Tuesday- Saturday 3pm-11pm
