Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Associate Roadway Engineer to join our team full-time to support one of the many large transformative transportation projects that we have either won, are currently pursuing, or will pursue across the nation.

Some of the larger projects are located in the states of:

  • Tennessee
  • Georgia
  • North Carolina
  • Virginia
  • Indiana

In this role, you will help deliver the design for projects that have a construction value greater than $1 billion, and in turn assist in enhancing the mobility, safety, and reliability for communities who live along and travel through these critical corridors.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Must be able to utilize specifications to complete proposed designs, and able to collaborate with other engineers and clients to finalize and complete highway and road designs.
  • Performing vertical clearance calculations, grading and permit/plan preparation, as well as use existing horizontal alignments to design new roadway alignments
  • May also perform material quantity takeoffs, estimates and surveys
  • Reviewing contractor supplied drawing submittals and assists in performing technical bid analyses.
  • Preparing and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents
  • Performing other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Minimum of 4-year Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
  • 0 to 3 years of related road/highway design
  • Working knowledge of CAD, MicroStation, InRoads and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally with other engineers and clients
  • Candidates without an EIT are expected to receive certificate within one year of the hire date.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate
  • Horizontal/vertical geometrics work experience. Internship rotations would be considered as valuable applicable experience.
  • Experience designing highways, roads, intersections, calculating vertical clearances and drafting in CAD (either AutoCAD or MicroStation)
