Job description

Job Title: Graphic Designer
Purpose Statement:
The Graphic Designer is responsible for supporting the mission and strategy of College Park Church through creative and effective contributions to Communication Team projects. This is accomplished through developing graphics, layout, and publications for various church ministries, events, and worship service elements.
This role primarily involves developing effective and compelling graphic design for digital, web, and print applications that is consistent with College Park's visual standards. This role includes being a resource to help staff and volunteer ministry leaders communicate effectively through consultive collaboration. Additionally, this role works directly with graphic design contractors by providing them with individual assignments, timelines, files, and counsel and being a liaison for contractors and other Communication Team members.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage and execute graphic design projects for major ministry and event communications, as prioritized by the Director and Assistant Director of Communication, including but not limited to:
    1. Designing and editing graphics, photography, logos, and layouts for publications and other materials
    2. Managing day-to-day design project tasks and cross-team collaboration
    3. Coordinating and delivering finished communication pieces on schedule
    4. Providing art direction and feedback to contract designers to ensure deliverables meet brand and quality standards
    5. Reviewing designs to confirm alignment with College Park Church visual brand standards
    6. Managing multiple concurrent design projects to ensure agreed-upon deadlines are met
  2. Providing graphic design support for Sunday morning worship services as needed
  3. Using the Communication Team's project management and planning tools to track tasks, manage deadlines, and collaborate with team members
  4. Participating in weekly design team meetings
  5. Updating and providing website digital content and graphics
  6. Handling general administrative responsibilities, including email, meetings, and other routine staff activities
  7. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Communication

Education & Skill Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field; minimum of four years' professional graphic design experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment, with proactive communication with stakeholders and team members throughout each project
  • Strong time-management skills, with the ability to accurately scope project timelines and consistently meet deadlines
  • Proficient with web-based tools for file sharing, calendaring, and project management
  • Ability to delegate assignments to contract designers and provide timely, constructive feedback and support
  • Working knowledge of current trends in marketing, design, social media, and emerging design technologies
  • Portfolio demonstrating design range, production quality, and adherence to brand guidelines required

Work Schedule
  • This is a full-time, exempt role totaling approximately 40+ hours weekly, Monday-Friday. Must be willing to occasionally work some irregular hours including Sunday mornings
  • Attendance at staff meetings and other staff functions required.
