Weekend schedule (Saturday & Sunday) with Mondays in the office-perfect for someone who thrives on hands-on work and seeing tangible results.
Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) is a non-profit organization and one of the largest Hispanic Community Development Corporations in the United States. Founded in 1969, CPLC empowers individuals through health & human services, housing, education, and economic development.
Our Self-Help Housing Program, founded in 1993 in Santa Cruz County, helps low- to moderate-income families construct their own homes in rural communities. The program has empowered more than 250 families to achieve the dream of homeownership-and now, you can be part of that legacy.
HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?
As the Assistant Construction Supervisor, you'll guide families as they build their own homes through the Self-Help Program. You'll ensure safe, efficient worksites, train participants in construction skills, and keep projects on schedule-all while fostering teamwork and confidence among the families you mentor.

  • Supervise clients/volunteers in the building of homes under the Self-help TA grant guidelines. This position does not supervise CPLC employees.

You're skilled, patient, and passionate about helping others succeed. You take pride in your craft and find joy in teaching and empowering families to achieve their goals. You lead by example, communicate clearly, and keep safety and teamwork top of mind.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education /Background:
  • Professional building skills with union or equivalent construction experience; but must have not only the skills but also the ability to each them to others
  • Must have the ability to delegate authority and responsibility
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • Should have experience as foreman, superintendent or private building
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable

Other Requirements:
  • Reliable and responsible supervisor
  • Individual is required to pay close attention to details
  • Able to work weekends (Sat and Sun)
