Job description

Job Purpose:

The Stylist reports to the Store Manager and is the Team Member with whom Clients will spend most of their time while visiting a Sport Clips store. Our Client’s perceptions of our and their experience will rest almost completely on the knowledge, skill, and attitude displayed by our Stylists.

Stylist Duties:

• Executes all aspects of the All Star Hair Cutting System, as well as a variety of styling

techniques

• Follows the 5-Point Play to deliver a Championship Experience to every Client

• Cuts hair using tools of the trade with responsibility for the safekeeping of tools and equipment

• Cleans and sterilizes combs, brushes, and other equipment following manufacturer’s

requirements; sharpens barber tools; and follows SCI procedures to maintain sanitary conditions

in the store.

• Escorts Clients from Reception area to Stylist chair

• Recommends Sport Clips services and products to Clients

• Attends Pep Rallies (Team meetings) and educational events

• Provides support to the Sport Clips Management/Coaching Teams

• Performs consultation in order to decide what services the Client needs

• Provides services to Clients such as shampooing, cutting and styling as desired

• Emphasizes product benefits and assist Clients in the selection of retail products or services for

their hair care needs

• Maintains a consistent relationship with Client base in order to ensure return Client visits

• Proactively develop new Clients

• Attends and participates in continuing education and training in order to follow new trends and

techniques

• Attends and participates in community events to foster goodwill and brand awareness

Administrative Duties:

• Performs Coordinator duties at the Reception desk, when necessary

• Operates the computer and Sport Clips point of sale programs efficiently and productively

Supervision:

Performs job functions with minimum supervision

Knowledge:

• Knowledge of the methods and equipment used in cutting and styling hair

• Knowledge of the sanitary practices and safety precautions necessary to the work

• Knowledge of the professional products offered at Sport Clips

• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing Client and personal services. This

includes Client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating of

Client satisfaction.

• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and

spelling of words, and grammar

Skills/Qualifications:

• Skill in the use of barbering or cosmetology tools and equipment

• Thorough knowledge of hair styles, hair care products and related procedures

• Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills

• Physical mobility, able to stand for prolonged periods of time

• Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to

understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at

inappropriate times

• Time Management — Managing one's own time and the time of others

• Speaking — Talking to others to convey information effectively

• Social Perceptiveness — Being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as

they do

Abilities:

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions

• Ability to maintain records and prepare reports

• Ability to communicate effectively

• Ability to maintain favorable public relations

• Ability to keep tools sterile and in good working order

Licenses:

Maintain cosmetology/barber license and state requirements

Physical Requirements:

• Standing for long periods of time

• Bending, stooping, twisting, leaning forward

• Hands frequently exposed to water

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred

• Cash handling experience preferred

• Computer experience helpful

• Holds valid license issued by the state of residency

• Preferred 1 year of experience

• Preferred training or certification from hair styling or cosmetology school

• English fluency required
