Job Summary
The Assistant Coach, Women's Golf supports the Head Coach in all aspects of managing a competitive NCAA Division I golf program. Responsibilities include recruiting student-athletes, coaching and player development, practice and tournament preparation, academic support, program administration, fundraising, and compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations.
Job Description
1. Coaching & Player Development
Assist in planning and conducting daily practices and training sessions.
Provide technical instruction on golf fundamentals, course management, short game, putting, and mental performance. Analyze player performance and develop individualized improvement plans. Assist with tournament preparation, strategy, and on-course coaching. Support strength, conditioning, nutrition, and wellness initiatives.
2. Recruiting
Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes. Build and maintain relationships with recruits, families, coaches, and golf organizations. Coordinate recruiting visits and communications. Travel extensively to junior tournaments and recruiting events. Maintain recruiting databases and records.
3. Student-Athlete Support
Monitor academic progress and promote academic success. Serve as a mentor and positive role model. Assist with life-skills development and leadership programming.
Support student-athlete well-being and team culture initiatives.
4. Program Administration
Assist with scheduling practices, tournaments, and team travel. Coordinate logistics including transportation, lodging, meals, and tournament entries. Manage equipment, uniforms, and inventory. Help oversee operating budgets and expense tracking.
Support camps, clinics, and community outreach programs.
5. Compliance & Operations
Ensure adherence to NCAA, conference, and institutional policies. Complete required compliance and recruiting documentation. Participate in departmental meetings and
professional development activities. Maintain knowledge of NCAA recruiting and eligibility rules.
6. Fundraising & Alumni Relations
Assist with fundraising initiatives and donor engagement. Foster relationships with alumni and supporters of the golf program. Represent the program at university and community events.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree, plus 5 years of collegiate or professional coaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and Division I coaching experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Must possess and/or demonstrate the following core competencies: accountability, attention to detail, communication, compassion, conflict resolution, customer service orientation, dependability, developing others, diversity management, drive for results, flexibility, functional/technical skills, impact and influence, integrity, problem solving, self-management, student, teamwork and collaboration, and vision.
2. As a staff member within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the person assuming this position is responsible for knowledge of and compliance with institutional, conference and NCAA rules, both those general in nature and those which apply specifically to their job responsibilities. Knowledge of and compliance with NCAA rules is a condition of employment in this position.

Physical Requirement/ Demands
1. Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential functions.
2. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
3. May need to help athletes complete key workouts by providing technical training demonstrations.
4. Position may require periods of sitting; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk/run moderate distances to perform work.
5. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and comply with the University's vehicle use policy.
