General Description:
Position is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction at a large public high school. Responsibilities may include supervising teams at varsity and junior varsity levels.
Essential Duties:
  • Under the direction of the Head Coach, assist with planning practices, running practices, and coaching during practices and games.
  • Communicate expectations to parents and players.
  • Ensure there are always two coaches at the field.
  • Attend all practices and games.
  • Arrange for practices/game coverage if you are unable to attend.
  • Start and end practices on time. You and other designated coach are always the last to leave the field.
  • Adhere to school board requirements and recommendations.
  • Attend all coaches' meetings.
  • Assist with player selection.
  • Supervision of team during all activities.

Qualifications: KSA's, Education
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
In-depth knowledge and advanced strategies of applicable sport. Knowledge of VHSL rules. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to mentor and develop players in a positive way. Desire to teach and improve skill development. Must pass criminal record check.
Education and Experience:
Required: Previous experience as a player and/or coaching at the high school level.
Preferred: Valid teaching license in a high school curriculum area.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Terms of Employment
Work Schedule: Spring Sports - February 23, 2026 thru June 2, 2026
Pay Grade: 6
