Position Summary

The Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller is responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the accounting function, ensuring accurate financial records, effective execution of the monthly close process, and efficient operation of core accounting activities.

Working closely with the Controller, this role helps maintain a strong control environment, drives process improvements, develops accounting talent, and supports the scalability of the finance organization. The Assistant Controller serves as the operational leader of accounting and acts as the primary backup to the Controller.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

  • Lead daily accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and expense reporting.
  • Manage the monthly closing process and ensure timely completion of reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and support financial statement preparation.

Financial Controls & Compliance

  • Execute and monitor internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Support audit activities, compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting.
  • Assist with accounting policy implementation and process documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to established accounting standards and company policies.
Process Improvement & Systems
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Support ERP enhancements, workflow improvements, and automation initiatives.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement across accounting processes.
Controller Backup Responsibilities
  • Serve as acting Controller when required.
  • Support treasury activities, financial reporting, audit coordination, and executive information requests.
  • Participate in finance leadership discussions and special projects.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and coaching to accounting staff.
  • Develop team capability through training and cross-functional exposure.
  • Support performance management and career development activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Manufacturing accounting experience preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Epicor.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, internal controls, and month-end close processes.

Working Conditions

While performing typical duties of this job, production employees will experience the conditions noted below. PPE is provided to protect employees against physical harm or hazards in the workplace environment.

  • Usually work indoors. These sites may not be temperature-controlled.
  • Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.
  • Exposure to hazardous equipment.
  • Exposure to contaminants.
  • Shared workspaces with other employees.
  • Requires handing objects of up to 15 lbs.

Required PPE provided by SEKISUI Aerospace based on the employee’s position and exposure. Below are typical PPE used on the production floor. Appropriate PPE must be worn by all employees when on the production floor.

SEKISUI Aerospace is required by Washington law to include the pay for this role when hiring a Washington resident. Pay may be higher or lower for non-resident WA employees, based on the market data for their region, allowing us to pay employees competitively in different geographic markets.
