Each property operates as its own entity, and our accounting team is part of the Support Center—a group dedicated to partnering closely with our operational teams to keep the business running smoothly. We value collaboration, accountability, and a service mindset, and we give our team members the autonomy to try new ideas and improve processes.

The Role
We’re looking for an Assistant Controller to join our collaborative accounting team in Everett, WA. You’ll work closely with the Controller and lead a talented group of professionals, including Accounting Managers, Property Accountants, Payroll and AP & Cash Reconciliation. Your focus will be on supporting the team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and partnering with our operational colleagues—from Store Managers to Regional and District Managers—to help the business thrive.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys coaching, mentoring, and collaborating with a highly capable and internally driven team.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and support a talented accounting team across multiple functions
  • Oversee the monthly 5-day close process across 160+ entities
  • Partner with operational teams to provide financial insights and support day-to-day operations
  • Support and optimize our systems: NetSuite, AvidXchange, and Emburse
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows while keeping things practical and scalable
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy in financial reporting and accounting practices

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in multi-entity environments
  • Real estate or property management experience is a plus
  • Understanding of payroll operations and payroll-related accounting is desired
  • Strong collaborative leadership skills and experience mentoring team members
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working closely with operational colleagues
  • Systems-savvy and open to process improvements
