Job Summary
AITHERAS is seeking Law Clerk II professionals to support litigation and legal operations under a federal government contract. This role provides substantive legal support to attorneys handling a wide range of civil, criminal, and administrative matters. Law Clerks will assist with legal research, drafting and reviewing legal documents, organizing case materials, analyzing records, and supporting case preparation in a fast-paced federal legal environment.
This position is ideal for candidates with strong legal research and writing skills, attention to detail, and experience working with case files, document review, and litigation support workflows.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct legal research using statutes, regulations, case law, and other legal authorities.
  • Draft legal memoranda, summaries, correspondence, and other litigation support documents for attorney review.
  • Review, analyze, and organize case files, pleadings, discovery materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Cite-check and proofread legal filings and correspondence for accuracy, completeness, and format compliance.
  • Prepare chronologies, witness files, exhibit lists, and document summaries to support litigation teams.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, hearing preparation, and other case development activities.
  • Review records and documents for relevance, responsiveness, privilege, and key factual issues.
  • Support document management, file maintenance, and organization of both electronic and hardcopy records.
  • Enter and track case information in databases or case management systems as required.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, court personnel, agency staff, and other stakeholders in support of assigned matters.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with DOJ, court, and contract requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.), or current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school with relevant legal support experience.
  • At least one year of relevant legal or litigation support experience.
  • Strong knowledge of legal research tools and resources, including Westlaw and/or LexisNexis.
  • Familiarity with federal and state court systems, rules, and legal procedures.
  • Ability to review and analyze legal documents with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with databases, document repositories, or case management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a high-volume legal environment.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required background investigation or suitability determination.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience supporting the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney's Offices, or other federal legal environments.
  • Experience with litigation support, document review, eDiscovery, or trial preparation.
  • Familiarity with electronic case management systems and document review platforms.
  • Experience handling large document sets and preparing organized work product for attorney use.
  • Current or previous government clearance or suitability determination.
  • Experience supporting matters involving complex civil, criminal, or administrative litigation.
