Job Description Follow all health, safely, and environmental requirements; Perform cleanup duties; Perform material handling and storage duties; Identify, use, and care of common hand and power tools; Use and care of craft specific tools and equipment; Knowledge and application of craft related mathematics; Knowledge and use of safety standards and best safety practices relevant to rigging, Inspection of rigging equipment and hardware; Knowledge and application of common hitches, Emergency stop signal, Basic crane hand signals, Knot tying (bowline & clove hitch), and use of rigging equipment relevant to craft specific tasks; Identify equipment types; Perform equipment inspection, service and maintenance as required; Read and use equipment operator's manual; Assist with equipment service and maintenance; Identify components and controls of equipment; Ability to respond to equipment emergency procedures; Role is critical to ensuring smooth and accurate preparation of construction sites, contributing to the successful completion of bridge, roadway and other infrastructure projects.; Operates hydraulic or cable operated excavators to complete tasks such as digging, excavating, and moving/transporting materials such as dirt, rock and other types of aggregate(s) on/around construction site in safe and efficient manner.; Must have knowledge of operating procedures as it pertains to the safe loading and unloading of materials. Levels and scoops soil, as well as controls the direction of the bucket to remove rocks, debris and other materials. Monitors engine gauges and performs track safety inspections daily, both before and after operation.; Understand, communicate, receive, interpret and follow all directions from Supervisor and Superintendents.; Keeps equipment clean and well maintained, notifying supervision if equipment repairs or other maintenance is needed

Perform routine maintenance on excavator machinery, including lubrication, refueling, and cleaning to ensure operations efficiency. May oil, grease, service and make normal maintenance adjustments on equipment, perform daily safety and maintenance checks, and complete paperwork and other documentation as needed.; Read and interpret site plans and blueprints to determine the precise location and depth for excavation tasks.; Set up and inspect equipment prior to operation of any task. ; Coordinate with other construction team members to ensure excavation activities align with project timelines and safety protocols

Interacts with construction general laborers and or crew members who are facilitating alignment, movement and adjustment of the equipment to complete conformation of grade specifications for the construction project.; Adjust attachments and equipment settings for specific excavation tasks, such as changing buckets or configuring hydraulic breakers.; Monitor and manage the excavation site to prevent over-digging, ensure proper slope grades, and maintain structural integrity of nearby structures.; Become familiar with excavation/digging plans, machine capabilities and limitations, and use efficient and safe excavation/digging procedures within a given application.; Observe, understand, and safely use hand signals; observe all grade stakes and marking when operating machine so that work is performed to exact specifications. Operate excavators in various weather conditions, adapting techniques to handle mud, rock or other challenging materials effectively.; Document daily work activities, including hours of operation, maintenance activities, and any incidents or deviations from planned excavation tasks.; Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts, as well as all other duties as assigned.
