As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Managing and leading an engineering organization focused on improving safety, quality, service and productivity improvements.
  • Driving EHS culture improvements through daily and weekly engagement with all operations on the site.
  • Providing direct supervision and coaching daily for direct reports and adjacent manufacturing functions.
  • Developing and executing a continuous improvement plan that aligns with the manufacturing plant and business strategic objectives to drive assets OEE.
  • Responsible for aligning with business supply chain partners to support new product introductions and key business objectives
  • Developing and execution of an automation roadmap that supports the manufacturing plant objectives.
  • Utilizing and coaching team to use systematic methodologies, such as root cause analysis, to identify and implement solutions to complex manufacturing problems.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Ten (10) years in engineering and/or manufacturing operations experience in a private, public, government, or military environment
  • Five (5) years of supervisory and/or managerial experience

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience managing and/or supervising direct reports
  • Demonstrated strong leadership ability and history of leading and developing high-performance teams
  • Demonstrated understanding of principle-based leadership and behaviors
  • Experience in leading strategic and organizational development, operational excellence, lean implementation, financial accounting

Work location:

  • Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Ames, IA.

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
