Field Application Engineer

The Field Application Engineer provides field application support within the East Coast territory by working with all sales channels (reps and customers) and be the interface between customers, sales, and engineering. Looking for candidates located on the East Coast.
Responsibilities:
  • Have the ability to identify requirements before the customer does and drive design-in of existing products as well as the definition of new products and customizations in close cooperation with our customers, TAM, KAM and our internal engineering teams.
  • To identify technical requirements in customer applications and to guide the customer in LEMO product line features to address any requirements that may not have yet been anticipated by the customer early in the design process.
  • To assist the sales team in defining the mechanical, electrical, environmental, quality requirements for the custom connector or cable assembly RFQ
  • To provide expertise on LEMO product lines, options and customizations to address specific application needs
  • To assist the customer and the sales team in selecting valid LEMO part numbers, building new part number BOM's, performing searches for alternative components in order to provide quick turnaround on sampl
  • Generate technical system solutions and successfully implement them at the customer
  • Establish and maintain close customer relations especially with technical decision-makers by providing technical support/assistance and demonstrate product value to sales team and customer design centers.
  • Jointly manage the demand creation/design-in of customer projects with the sales team.
  • Act as a technical interface / consultant for our customers in the field of connectors and interconnect solutions.
  • Understand customer requirements, technical trends and assist in identifying promising markets and applications.
  • Present technical/market information and system level value propositions to management on why LEMO should invest in technology and/or product expansion.
  • Provides the costing team market intelligence on competitive pricing for custom connectors and value add/cable assemblies in all key LEMO market segments.
  • Supports budgetary quick turn quote process as needed.
  • Works with all facets of the organization from quote team, sales, engineering, product management and operations to facilitate communication on all new business opportunities.
  • Support New Product Introduction and program launch for all new programs brought forth by FAE.
  • Creates application and product training material, and/or delivers technical product training for LEMO employees, the sales channels and others as needed.
  • Attend tradeshows and sales related trade organization events
  • Facilitates technical support for customer planned events such as lunch & learns & technical presentations to design centers.
  • Travel minimum 40%-50% of the time with sales team, reps and distributors for customer visits as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in industrial, Mechanical or Electronics Engineering with direct design in experience in the electronic connector industry; ten (10) years minimum experience; must have connector industry experience
  • Geometric Dimensioning along with CAD and 3D modeling skill sets to support customer design centers
  • Ability to quickly model concepts in order to convey customization needs
  • Ability to interpret customer engineering drawings to identify tolerance requirements, manufacturing, testing and packaging requirements, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Technical aptitude in Electro-mechanical products is a must
  • In-depth knowledge of the connectors and interconnect solutions and associated market applications
  • Familiar with the details from development to testing through to the sales execution
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of management and ease at convincing customers
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Products
