About the Role

Hall Prangle is seeking a full-time Docket Clerk for its Chicago office. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years of docketing experience in a litigation law firm environment. The docket clerk is responsible for managing court filings, calendaring deadlines, and maintaining accurate docket records across multiple jurisdictions. This role supports attorneys and legal staff by coordinating court appearances and hearings, monitoring case activity, handling document processing and deliveries, and providing administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of litigation and office services functions.


Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and updating attorney calendars for all filings, deadlines, appearances, depositions, etc.
  • Electronic filings in multiple jurisdictions using Odyssey & Pacer Systems
  • Scanning projects including disc duplication and image uploads
  • Reviewing and docketing all correspondence received via mail, courier, e-mail and facsimile, including docketing all relevant and pertinent deadlines
  • Updating firm as to Judges Standing Orders & Procedures
  • Arranging motion hearings with Judges and Clerks in all jurisdictions
  • Monitoring and updating firm docket on a daily basis, including communicating with attorneys, paralegals, and assistants to obtain instruction for attorney coverage and docket entries
  • Backup calendaring/filing/docketing for all the Firm Offices across US jurisdictions
  • Daily court runs and deliveries to Courts and Counsel in the Loop
  • Arrange for timely delivery of Trial Team Materials, often multiple times a day.
  • Occasional assistance with Office Services to assist with moving, stocking, deliveries

What You will Need to Succeed

  • 3 years as a Docket Clerk within a litigation law firm
  • Strong background with Court & filing procedures
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Knowledge of concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures of the law
  • Knowledge of functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts and related agencies
  • Highly proficient using MS Office Suites: Word, Excel, Outlook, and On-Line Case Management Software (Knowledge with Milana and FileVine, a plus)
  • Must be highly organized, able to multitask and juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
