Job description

Founded in 1916, New England Coffee, a division of Reily Foods Company, is one of the largest independent coffee roasters in the Northeast. We pride ourselves on delivering the best coffee to our community and to retail locations across the country. Our headquarters are located in Malden, MA, and our Distribution Center is in Wilmington, MA.

Theย Assistant DC Managerย will support the Wilmington Distribution Center (DC) Manager in overseeing all aspects of the distribution operations at the Wilmington facility. This position is responsible for assisting in the implementation and management of procedures that drive efficiency, productivity, safety, and quality. The Assistant DC Manager will collaborate with the DC Manager to lead and develop employees, improve processes, and ensure adherence to operational standards and key performance indicators (KPIs).

Distribution Operations:

  • Oversee day-to-day activities in the distribution center, ensuring operational efficiency and that employees are properly trained and performing their responsibilities. During times when the DC Manager is traveling or on vacation, the Assistant DC Manager will take on the DC Manager's responsibilities, ensuring smooth and continuous operations of the distribution center.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying areas for improvement and working with the team to drive performance enhancements.
  • Support inventory management practices to ensure accurate inventory records, reduce waste, and optimize stock levels to meet demand.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of safety initiatives, ensuring a safe working environment in compliance with safety regulations. Actively participate in safety training, audits, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory, customer, and third-party food and safety audit requirements. Prepare for and participate in external audits and inspections as required.
  • Ensure the facility maintains high cleanliness standards and is organized according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Take on other tasks and special projects as assigned by the DC Manager to support the overall goals and success of the distribution center.

Driver and Vehicle Coordination (MA, RI, CT):

  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of DSD delivery drivers operating in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to customers.
  • Coordinate and monitor the general maintenance of all leased delivery vehicles,
  • Ensure all DOT regulations are adhered to, including maintaining up-to-date records for driver logs, vehicle inspections, and any other necessary documentation.
  • Experience withย Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)ย (e.g., D365),ย ERPย (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics AX), andย Transportation Management Systemsย (e.g., AR Traffic) is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a distribution center or warehouse setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Bachelor's Degree, or 5 years related experience.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or food production environment is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency inย Microsoft Officeย tools, particularlyย Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strongย problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
