FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a Legal Assistant to support a small, established medical malpractice law firm in Irvine. This permanent, hybrid role is responsible for providing legal and administrative support to attorneys handling complex medical malpractice cases, including case management, document preparation, client communication, medical record organization, discovery support, deadline tracking, and litigation support. The ideal candidate will have legal assistant experience within litigation, personal injury, or medical malpractice law, strong discovery experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy boutique firm environment.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing legal and administrative support to attorneys and litigation staff
  • Managing and maintaining organized case files, documents, and client records
  • Preparing correspondence, pleadings, discovery documents, and other legal materials
  • Assisting with filing, service, and tracking of legal documents and deadlines
  • Maintaining attorney calendars, court dates, appointments, and case deadlines
  • Communicating professionally with clients, medical providers, opposing counsel, insurance companies, and outside parties
  • Requesting, organizing, and maintaining medical records, medical bills, expert reports, and case documentation
  • Assisting with discovery preparation and responses
  • Supporting attorneys with case preparation
  • Organizing exhibits and trial-related materials
  • Updating and maintaining case management systems with accurate case information
  • Conducting basic legal research and assisting with case-related projects as needed
  • Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive client and case information
  • Providing general office support in a small, team-oriented law firm environment

The selected candidate will also possess:

  • 2+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant required
  • 2 to 5 years of Legal Assistant experience preferred
  • Litigation experience preferred
  • Personal injury or medical malpractice law experience preferred
  • Medical malpractice experience strongly preferred
  • Solid discovery experience required
  • Knowledge of California litigation procedures and court filing requirements preferred
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and litigation processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Microsoft Word and Outlook experience required
  • Legal case management software experience preferred
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to handle confidential information
