Job description

Job Summary:
The Resident Assistant (RA) provides essential care and support to residents in a manner that promotes dignity, comfort, and independence. The RA assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitors resident well-being, and ensures a safe and supportive environment in accordance with facility policies and state regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with ADLs such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility

  • Provide companionship and emotional support

  • Observe and report any changes in residentsโ€™ physical or mental condition to nursing staff

  • Support residents with meal assistance and hydration

  • Assist with light housekeeping and room organization to maintain a clean environment

  • Promote resident safety through proper use of equipment and fall prevention techniques

  • Escort residents to activities and appointments as needed

  • Follow individualized care plans and document services provided

  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Previous experience in caregiving or assisted living preferred, but not required

  • Ability to work compassionately with older adults

  • Basic knowledge of infection control and resident rights

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
