Assistant Diesel Instructor Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Provide Student Instruction in Program Courses as Assigned Provide instruction to a diverse student population in the Diesel Truck Technology Program in safety, hazard communication standard/hazard chemical right to know, theory, testing, diagnosing, and service procedures that include, but are not limited to, Shop safety,electrical and electronics, basic power trains, manual transmissions,starting and charging systems, basic fuel systems, diesel emissions and basic theory of diesel engine overhaul. Develop new courses and update existing courses as required to keep the Diesel Technology Truck Program current with industry standards and processes. New course development includes writing course objectives, developing syllabi, developing handouts and tests. Also updating of existing courses to ensure that the course is current with industry standards. To Maintain and Upgrade the Diesel Truck Technology Program Classroom and Laboratory Instructional Facilities and Equipment Responsible for maintenance of all instructional facilities and equipment and to insure that it is maintained in a safe and proper working order for student use. Complete and Maintain Program and Student Records
Responsible for maintaining permanent student records on courses taught, and following and enforcing college policies regarding attendance policy, grading policy, and student achievement. Completing production orders on all production projects and maintaining inventory record of all program equipment is required.

Maintain Technical Competency in Teaching Area
Required to stay technically competent in all areas of teaching responsibilities by attending ASEP resource development training, ASEP faculty development programs.

Participate in College and Program Activities and Committees
Will attend, participate, and support all program activities (i.e. Advisory committee meeting, Open House, division meetings. And college activities and committees as required.

Will Act as a Student and Technical Advisor for the ASEP Program
Will advise and help register students for correct courses, advise students on academic standing, support and explain college policies and procedures to students, and complete all records, forms, etc. as necessary for proper student articulation and program operation.

Perform other College and Program Duties as Assigned
Perform other college and program related duties as assigned. This will include, but not be limited to, substitute teaching as required, developing budgets, advising Program Director as requested, supporting and promoting the college and the ASEP program, supporting student recruitment, assist in the security of all college and program materials and equipment, and assist in supervising student help.

Individualized Development Plan (New Instructors) Each new instructor will develop an individualized development plan in cooperation with the Vice President of Instruction. Professional Development Faculty should work with their immediate supervisor to develop an annual plan of professional development and improvement.

1. Serve as a technical advisor for the diesel technology program for assisting other programs at the college in solving automotive problems.
2. Provide assistance to other college divisions/departments as required to ensure college policies and procedures are followed.
3. Teach evening or off-campus automotive after market classes for specific training requested.

1. Possess current knowledge of and experience in Diesel Truck vehicle brake systems, steering and suspensions, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, manual transmission transaxle, transfer case and rear axle, automatic transmissions/transaxles, automotive engines, and related electrical electronics. 2. Ability and experience in the safe operation and maintenance of automotive engine diagnostic and service equipment, brake and suspension equipment, transmission and rear axle equipment, hand and power tools, hoists and jacks. 3. Minimum of two (2) years current work experience in automotive field (related to instructional assignment). 4. Master ASE certified or ability to complete Master ASE Certification to meet Diesel Truck instructor course qualifications. 5. Demonstrate effective oral and written communication competencies necessary to conduct classroom and laboratory instruction in working with a diverse student population. 6. Possess as working knowledge of the Hazard Communication Standard/Hazard and Chemical Right To Know Laws and regulations. 7. Ability to organize and present course material in a logical and timely manner using effective communication skills. 8. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students and college staff in all types of working relationships. 9. Ability to maintain a classroom/laboratory environment that is conducive to learning including maintaining proper classroom order. 10. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (two to four hours) when supervising lab work and during class times (one to two hours). 11. Ability to bend over the engine compartment of an truck and lift approximately 30 pounds from compartment. 12. Ability to work under a truck that is on safety stands. 13. Ability to position one's self under dash, in trunk, or engine compartment to demonstrate, inspect and evaluate students' work. 15. The individual must possess the skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

1. Associate's degree in Automotive or Diesel Technology Truck.
2. Two (2) years of work experience in an automotive or Truck field related to the areas of assigned instruction

1. Two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience.
2. Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university.
