Job description

Position Sacramento Area Sewer District (SacSewer) is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Engineer position. Applications will be screened after the following filing deadlines at 5PM: 5/25/26, 6/25/26 The Assistant Engineer is the journey-level class in the engineering series. Under general supervision, incumbents are expected to be proficient in performing difficult assignments in routine planning, design, technical investigations, and field/construction projects.

This position holds no supervisory responsibility but may provide technical direction to paraprofessional engineering personnel or Engineer/Architect Student Interns. An Assistant Engineer may serve as a resident engineer on smaller, less complex field/construction projects. Incumbents in these positions typically receive direction from an Associate Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineer, who is the lead level engineer in this series.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Either: 1. Graduation with a bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering, or a closely related field accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Or:2.
