Job description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking a Fraud Analyst for a financial services organization in North Orange County, CA.  This is a Hybrid position (2 days on-site).
Monday -Friday - 8am - 5pm 
POSITION SUMMARY
The Fraud Analyst is responsible for identifying, analyzing, investigating, and mitigating fraud risks across the organization. This role utilizes fraud detection systems, transaction monitoring, internal/external referrals, and industry resources to detect suspicious activity, minimize losses, support regulatory compliance, and manage fraud cases through resolution.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Monitor and analyze fraud alerts, account activity, and transactions to identify suspicious or fraudulent activity.
  • Perform real-time and near-real-time monitoring of ATM, Debit, and Credit Card transactions and take appropriate action, including card restrictions, closure, or replacement.
  • Review ACH origination activity, assess risk, and determine whether transactions should be approved or rejected.
  • Investigate suspected fraud, conduct due diligence, and recommend appropriate risk-based actions; escalate complex cases as needed.
  • Support Regulation E and credit card dispute/claim processes, including claim entry and reimbursement/credit processing.
  • Communicate with members and internal departments regarding fraud-related matters, procedures, and resolutions.
  • Identify and report internal control deficiencies to management.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable banking regulations and requirements, including UCC, Reg. CC, Reg. E, NACHA, and BSA/AML.
  • Stay current on fraud trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks related to payment and card activities.
  • Participate in departmental projects, process improvements, and procedure development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–2 years of financial services, fraud prevention, investigations, or related experience; or two years as a Member Account Protection Analyst I.
  • Financial services and customer service experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, problem-solving, communication, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use banking, fraud monitoring, and case management systems.
