Assistant Data Analytics information

What is an assistant data analytics?

Assistant Data Analytics professionals support data analysts and data scientists by preparing data, running basic analyses, and generating reports. They help collect, clean, and organize data so it can be used for business insights and decision-making. Their role often includes using spreadsheets, databases, and visualization tools to present findings clearly. This position is ideal for those starting in data analytics, as it offers hands-on experience with data processes and tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an assistant data analytics, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Assistant Data Analytics professional, you need strong analytical skills, a foundational understanding of statistics, and a relevant degree in fields such as mathematics, computer science, or economics. Familiarity with data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, and visualization software such as Tableau or Power BI is typically required. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are valuable soft skills for interpreting and presenting data insights. These skills and qualities are essential for supporting data-driven decision-making and ensuring accurate, actionable results in business environments.

What are some typical challenges faced by an assistant data analytics professional, and how can they be addressed?

Assistant Data Analytics professionals often encounter challenges such as managing large and sometimes incomplete datasets, prioritizing tasks among competing deadlines, and effectively communicating technical findings to non-technical team members. Building strong organizational skills and becoming proficient with data cleaning tools can help manage data quality issues. Regular collaboration with senior analysts and clear communication with stakeholders can also make it easier to navigate complex projects and bridge gaps between technical analysis and business insights.

Job description

Description:

We are looking for a Data and Analytics Lead to join our Professional Services team and play a key role in serving our clients while helping transform our operations in the AI era.

This role supports our clients in fund and business performance analysis, forecasting, reporting, and strategic decision-making in multiple aspects of their business. You will partner closely with private capital teams and our Professional Services organization to build dashboards, develop analytic pipelines, and create reporting that helps teams make informed decisions.

This is a highly visible role with broad exposure across multiple large strategic clients, providing the opportunity to influence key business decisions, build relationships with our private capital stakeholders, and develop a deep understanding of how a high-performance private capital firm operates as well as a growing SaaS firm. As part of our AI transformation, you will also help identify opportunities to leverage new technologies and automate our business processes along the way.

About You

Humility: You keep an open mind, learning from your mistakes and driving to do better the next time. You’re focused on what’s best for our customers and aim to forge long-lasting relationships with them.

Ambition: This is a growth role for you, and one where you plan to learn a lot and springboard your career from it. We reward folks that see a better way and push to make it happen.

Candor: You seek honest, upfront conversations to get to the right answer for your customers, for your team, and for yourself. You’re willing to give and receive feedback, and you’re open about what’s working and what needs to improve.

Inclusion: You work to ensure everyone at Altvia, across every culture, identity, and background, feels they belong and can do their best work.

Resilience: You embrace a hard challenge. You’re prepared to adapt as the situation changes along with you, knowing that everyone at the company will have to grow together to be successful.

As the Data and Analytics Lead, you will:
  • Deliver data-focused client implementation projects, building data pipelines, analytic dashboards, and custom reports based on the needs of the project.
  • Own accountability for timely delivery, both for yourself and for junior analysts you mentor.
  • Assist in scoping, designing, and planning new projects as they arise.
  • Identify gaps in workflows and implement process improvements based on client or internal business needs.
  • Serve as a key bridge between Product, Engineering, and Professional Services to bring potential new solutions back into the core product offering.
Requirements: What you’ll bring:
  • Strong competence in information design, data visualization, and business intelligence
  • Knowledge of Salesforce data structures (or similar CRM-related experience)
  • Working knowledge of SQL to write your own queries and reports (and we will test this during the interview process)
  • Experience with ETL pipelines and working with data of disparate types and sources
  • Experience in leading professional services engagements, or comparable experience driving internal projects with stakeholders outside your immediate group
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Capable applicants have likely spent five or more years in analytics-focused roles prior to this posting.

We’d be overjoyed if you have:
  • Experience in a management consulting role
  • Experience working with financial services or the private capital industry
  • Experience with Python or another data science-oriented programming language
Other requirements:
  • This is an in-office role in our Denver office. At this time, we are not considering remote candidates.
  • Occasional travel will be required to client sites (<5 times per year)
