Job Title Assistant Dance Coach - Perkinston Campus Job Description
The Assistant Dance Team Coach shall serve as a passionate and enthusiastic individual dedicated to the success and growth of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Dance Team. The Assistant Coach shall work closely with the MGCCC Dance Team Head Coach in all aspects of planning, choreography, social media, purchasing decisions, and any other decision-making processes related to the dance team.
Job Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist the Dance Coach in planning choreography for MGCCC Dance Team routines throughout the season. (e.g. Camp, Competition, Half-Time Show, Side-Line Routines, Pep-Rallies, Parades, Basketball, Spring Dance Showcase).
2. Collaborate on social media initiatives to promote the MGCCC Dance Team and MGCCC Dance Program.
3. Participate in purchasing decisions for costumes, uniforms, equipment, and other necessary items throughout the year.
4. Assist the Dance Coach in all aspects of planning, promoting MGCCC Dance Team events, as well as attending and actively participating in all designated events, including but not limited to:
a. Dance Team Summer Intensive
b. Universal Dance Camp in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
c. MGCCC Summer Dance Clinics
d. Competition Choreography
e. Band Camp
f. Fall Dance Team Recruitment Clinics
g. Home and Away Football Games
h. Spirit Squads' Haunted House
i. Gulf Coast Dance Championships
j. Additional Competition Practices (December-January)
k. Universal Dance Association's National College Dance Championship (January)
l. Basketball Games
m. Spring Dance Team Recruitment Clinics
n. Mardi Gras Parades
o. Art Walk
p. Spring Dance Showcase
q. MGCCC Dance Team Tryouts
r. MGCCC Student Showcase
s. Captains' Retreat
t. Team Contract Meetings
u. UDA Nationals Game Day Choreography
v. Summer Dance Team Workouts

5. Commit to attending practices each week (competition and field, as well as events outlined above, and any additional events or practices deemed necessary by the Dance Team Coach.
6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dance Team Coach, Visual & Performing Arts School Chair, Dean of Teaching and Learning, and/or Campus Vice President.
Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
(M2) Experience in teaching dance.
(M3) Experience with choreography.
(M4) Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited Institution of Higher Learning.
(D2) Experience teaching dance at an institution of higher learning.
(D3)Professional experience teaching dance and/or choreography.
