Job description

Punahou Dance School is actively recruiting Part Time No Benefitted Dance Teachers for the 2026-2027 School Year. Position Details:

  • Work Year: 10.5 Months
  • School Year: 2026-2027
  • Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM; Saturday, hours between 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Hours may vary depending on course
  • Minimum Hourly Rate*: $40.00/Hour - Compensation commensurate with qualifications

*Punahou School offers a comprehensive total rewards program that includes competitive pay. Pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant training and experience, and internal equity.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience teaching dance.
  • Professional dance performance experience.
  • Have an ability to motivate students and inspire their love and learning of dance.
  • Have demonstrated success in working with young dancers in a group setting.
  • Project a confident, positive, helpful and professional demeanor in working with others, using tact, discretion, and diplomacy at all times.
  • Possess highly effective interpersonal communication skills: verbal, non-verbal, listening and written.
  • Will act as a role model, understanding professional boundaries on and off-the-job, especially when interacting with students, colleagues, parents and other visitors to the Dance School.
  • Are willing to collaborate and learn from teaching colleagues.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment towards continual professional development.
  • Have the ability to take direction and respond positively to feedback from supervisors.
  • Maintain professionalism in attendance, timeliness, conduct, and appearance.
