Job description

CRAFT ASSISTANT - CRAFT TECHNICIAN - Maintenance Technician 08-01361 Who We Are: With almost 70 years of experience as an independent research, development, and evaluation laboratory for fuels and lubricants, we are well qualified to tackle challenges affecting marine vessels, locomotives, trucks, automobiles, and even hand-held power tools. By joining our team you will receive $500 on your first paycheck, minus applicable taxes. Objectives of this Role: Assist with the installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of HVAC equipment, chiller systems, air compressors, and tower water cooling systems, including contacting outside service companies when additional support is needed.

Support troubleshooting and repair of cooling tower pumps and motors, as well as maintenance of cooling tower chemical pumps. Perform piping repairs involving ½"-2” galvanized threaded piping, PVC, and stainless steel piping. Assist with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of air compressors, dryers, and oil/water separators associated with air compressors; perform preventive maintenance and maintain an inventory of spare parts.

When needed, assist with daily equipment inspections using a provided daily inspection sheet, and report issues to the maintenance team. Eventually participate in an after-hours call-out rotation to assist with maintenance issues that occur outside of normal working hours, including weekends and holidays. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Monitor HVAC equipment, humidity systems, air compressors, and water towers on a daily basis to ensure proper operation, and perform troubleshooting when issues are identified.

When assistance is needed, use the daily inspection checklist to inspect equipment throughout Divisions 08 and 03 to verify all systems are working properly. Troubleshoot and repair equipment when issues are identified. Perform scheduled routine maintenance and cleaning of HVAC systems using personal tools, and provided tools and equipment.

Assist with maintaining parts and materials inventory, and assist with ordering parts and materials for our equipment. Requirements: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. HVAC technical school or college courses in this field preferred.

TDLR HVAC license and an EPA 608 Certification preferred. 0-2 years: Performing maintenance, installation, troubleshooting or repair of HVAC systems including schooling. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
