Hope Valley Country Club, located in Durham, North Carolina, and managed by Bobby Jones Links, is hiring for a Maintenance Assistant. Founded in 1926, Hope Valley is an elite private club featuring a classic Donald Ross designed golf course, state-of-the-art tennis facility, resort-style pool complex, and a spacious, welcoming clubhouse offering its members first-class recreation, dining, and programming. Hope Valley is ideally situated in the heart of one of Southeast's most vibrant, exciting areas.
The Maintenance Assistant provides support to the Director of Maintenance in the upkeep and daily care of the clubhouse and member facilities. This position plays an important role in ensuring the club remains clean, safe, and well-maintained for our members and guests. In addition to assisting with general building maintenance, this role will also help maintain the locker rooms and member areas, ensuring they remain clean, organized, and appropriate at all times. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, has a strong work ethic, and enjoys supporting a team in a private club environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
Facility Maintenance
  • Assist the Director of Maintenance with daily building upkeep and preventative maintenance.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general facility repairs.
  • Inspect clubhouse areas and report maintenance issues or safety concerns.
  • Help maintain HVAC systems, lighting, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Assist with event setups and breakdowns, including moving tables, chairs, and equipment when needed.
  • Support seasonal maintenance projects and facility improvements.

Locker Room & Facility Care
  • Ensure locker rooms remain clean, organized, and presentable throughout the day.
  • Monitor locker rooms to ensure supplies are stocked and the area remains appropriate for members.
  • Assist with light cleaning tasks such as trash removal, towel replacement, and general tidiness.
  • Communicate any maintenance or cleanliness concerns to the appropriate department.

Qualifications
  • Previous maintenance, facilities, or custodial experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and general repair work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and professional environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
