Job Description
WLWT-TV News 5, Hearst Television's top-rated NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, OH, has an opening for a strong, take-charge producer who will elevate our news product to the next level. The right candidate will have a track record of being creative and aggressive, while making decisions and communicating the plan in a clear, concise manner. We expect excellent news judgment and a can-do attitude. Candidates must know how to own breaking news, win the big story and produce dominant weather coverage during severe events. Candidates must be quick and calm under pressure. This role reports to the Assistant News Director.
Responsibilities:
  • Selecting, researching and writing compelling content for live newscasts to make the newscast an "experience" for viewers
  • Working with news management to execute the strategic vision and brand of the news organization
  • Showcasing content and anchors to win the big story and make the newscast visually compelling and memorable
  • Communicating, coordinating and executing creative vision with team of anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photographers, editors and production staff
  • Consistently posting to digital platforms
  • In-person attendance is required

Requirements:
  • Excellent writing, spelling, grammar and copy-editing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate several crews and responsibilities simultaneously
  • An ability to summarize information into easy-to-understand components
  • Creative presentation style, and ability to showcase all resources and elements
  • Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
  • Must be available to work holidays, when necessary, shifts that may include nights, weekends and overnights, and flexible with schedule to be available during severe weather and breaking news
  • Onsite attendance required
  • College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Creative presentation style
  • Ability to showcase content and anchors
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Knowledge of ENPS or similar programs a plus
