About the OpportunityA growing and acquisitive organization within the
consumer products / manufacturing industry is seeking an
Assistant Controller to support and lead accounting operations for a large, multi-site business unit.
This is a
high-visibility, hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced, production-driven environment. The organization is experiencing significant growth and scaling operations, creating strong demand for an accounting leader who can balance
technical accounting expertise with operational partnership.
Compensation- Base: $125,000 - $140,000
- Bonus: 15% target
About the RoleThe
Assistant Controller will serve as a key partner to regional and operational leadership, overseeing core accounting functions while driving process improvements across a complex manufacturing environment.
This role requires a strong foundation in
general ledger accounting and financial reporting, along with exposure to
cost accounting and inventory-driven operations. You will play a critical role in strengthening financial processes, improving close timelines, and supporting continued business growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Leadership- Oversee full-cycle general ledger accounting, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Operational & Manufacturing Accounting- Partner with operations leadership to monitor financial performance and cost drivers
- Support inventory accounting and cost-related processes across production environments
- Assist with cost accounting initiatives and financial visibility across operations
Process Improvement & Transformation- Drive improvements to close processes, reporting timelines, and internal controls
- Identify opportunities for automation and workflow optimization
- Support system enhancements and ERP-related initiatives where applicable
Audit, Compliance & Growth Initiatives- Assist with external audits and compliance requirements
- Support integration efforts tied to acquisitions and business expansion
- Contribute to building scalable processes to support ongoing growth
RequirementsCore Qualifications- 8-10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong foundation in general ledger accounting and month-end close ownership
- Experience with:
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Accruals and journal entries
- Financial statement preparation and review
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
Leadership & Business Partnership- Experience managing or mentoring accounting staff
- Ability to partner directly with operations and cross-functional leadership
- Hands-on, detail-oriented approach with a willingness to dive into day-to-day accounting
Preferred Experience- Background in manufacturing, consumer products, or other inventory-driven industries
- Exposure to:
- Cost accounting
- Inventory accounting
- Multi-site or multi-entity environments
- Experience in high-growth or acquisition-driven organizations
- ERP experience (NetSuite or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
Pay Details: $125,000.00 to $140,000.00 per year
