Job description

Minneapolis Glass is seeking an experienced Controller who wants to do more than manage the numbers-you'll help shape where the business goes next.
If you're a Controller who enjoys being close to the business, turning financial data into actionable insights, developing a strong accounting team, improving systems and processes, and serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, we'd like to talk with you.
This is a highly visible leadership role reporting directly to the President. As a member of the Leadership Team, you'll partner with company leaders, ownership, and the Board of Directors to strengthen financial performance and help guide the long-term direction of Minneapolis Glass. You'll have the opportunity to influence decisions across the organization while leading the accounting and finance function.
We offer a competitive salary starting at $150,000 & up commensurate with experience, company-wide bonuses, excellent low-deductible health insurance, 401(k) with company match, work-life integration, and a collaborative culture where expertise and ideas are valued.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As Controller, you'll lead our accounting and finance function while serving as a strategic financial partner to the President and Leadership Team. You'll oversee a talented accounting team, strengthen our financial processes and systems, and turn financial information into insights that help us make better business decisions.
Responsibilities include:
  • Serve as a key member of the Leadership Team, providing financial insight and strategic recommendations that support company goals.
  • Prepare meaningful financial reporting and analysis for leadership and ownership.
  • Turn financial and operational data into actionable insights by identifying trends, opportunities, and areas requiring attention.
  • Analyze revenue, expenses, working capital, cash flow, forecasts, KPIs, and operating practices to help drive improved performance.
  • Lead the company's accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit and collections, payroll, inventory costing, fixed assets, treasury, and month-end close.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts while partnering with department leaders to build accountability and improve financial decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls that safeguard company assets and support accurate financial reporting.
  • Manage relationships with our independent accounting firm and support tax compliance and planning activities.
  • Develop ROI analysis for capital investments and provide recommendations to ownership regarding asset acquisitions and expansion opportunities.
  • Build, coach, & develop the accounting team with clear expectations and accountability.
  • Serve as the organization's Acumatica "super user" and help us get more value from our financial systems.
  • Continually look for ways to improve productivity, reduce costs, strengthen processes, and support profitable growth.

WHAT MAKES YOU SUCCESSFUL
You are someone who:
  • Wants to be a business partner, not just the keeper of the numbers.
  • Can move comfortably between strategic conversations and the details required to ensure the numbers are right.
  • Knows how to translate financial information into a story that helps leaders make better decisions.
  • Builds credibility quickly and develops strong working relationships across an organization.
  • Enjoys developing people and building a high-performing accounting team.
  • Uses technology and systems to improve accuracy, visibility, and efficiency.
  • Has strong business judgment and understands how financial and operational decisions affect one another.
  • Is comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment where priorities can change.
  • Takes ownership, follows through, and isn't afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed.
  • Can manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Brings both strategic thinking and strong execution.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MSA, MBA and/or CPA is a plus.
  • 15+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or construction environment.
  • 3+ years leading an accounting or finance team.
  • Strong experience with general ledger, budgeting, cost accounting, credit and collections, and financial management. Experience with project cost accounting.
  • Proficiency with financial systems and Excel skills. Acumatica familiarity is ideal.
  • Experience in a privately held or family-owned business is a plus.
  • Previous experience as part of a senior management or leadership team is preferred.

WHY MINNEAPOLIS GLASS?
Because this isn't a Controller role where you'll sit on the sidelines. You'll have direct access to the President, a seat on the Leadership Team, exposure to ownership and the Board, and the opportunity to influence decisions that affect the entire company.
For nearly 90 years, Minneapolis Glass has combined advanced manufacturing capabilities with experienced teams to serve the commercial construction industry throughout the Midwest. Our values-Relationships, Integrity, Expertise, Ownership, and Perseverance-and Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) guide how we work with our customers and one another. We're proud of our long-tenured employees, collaborative culture, and commitment to continuous improvement. You'll feel the difference.
If you're successful in your current Controller role but wondering what's next, this could be an opportunity to expand your influence, work closer to the business, and help lead an established company into its next chapter.
ARE YOU READY TO HAVE A BIGGER IMPACT?
If you're an experienced Controller who wants more than another accounting job-and you're looking for a place where your financial expertise, leadership, and ideas will genuinely influence the business-we'd like to meet you. Please complete our initial 3-minute, mobile-friendly application.
