Job Summary: The Controller will lead, manage and oversee all financial reporting and accounting functions for the Prominence Health Plan companies from a GAAP and SSAP perspective. Specifically, the role is responsible for:
  • Leadership and management of the Accounting team
  • Accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Overseeing financial regulatory filings (NAIC and CMS)
  • Leading and coordinating successful external audits
  • Developing and managing adequate financial controls and policies
  • Actively performing balance sheet and SOX reviews for all lines of business
  • Compiling and communicating executive summaries and key financial metrics
  • Participating in the development of the company's strategic plans
  • Coordinating projections with corporate Treasury on required RBC levels

Additionally, the role will provide oversight and support of month-end close activities, budget development, accounts payable functions, administrative cost review, state regulatory requests, and administration of the annual reinsurance program. This executive will actively participate with the CFO and other key executives in the development and implementation of key strategic initiatives.

Qualifications
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting in a health insurance setting is required
  • CPA required; experience is public accounting preferred.
  • 5+ years of financial accounting experience. Must have experience in the health insurance industry. Experience with Medicare Advantage is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in a progressively advanced accounting roles preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Regulatory and U.S. GAAP requirements.
  • A leader, self-starter, proactive team player with a passion to consistently deliver high quality service and exceed stakeholder expectations.
  • Accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Ability to lead, coach, develop and promote talent.
  • A quick learner with superior problem-solving skills, who is focused on generating efficiencies and continuous process improvements.
