Job description

Position Title: Senior Accountant/ Assistant Controller
This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the Chief Financial Officer in the accounting department, with the potential to become the successor in this pivotal position. The individual will be instrumental in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Day-to-day responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. The position demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Candidates who are adaptable and possess strong communication skills will find this role particularly rewarding.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $150,000 / Year DOE
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee W2 income and dividend income tax for owners
  • Prepare and document financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger coding and journal entries
  • Manage billing verification and accounts receivable oversight
  • Conduct bank reconciliations and write miscellaneous checks
  • Prepare tax returns and tax reports, excluding state taxes
  • Learn DOT and mileage reporting for trucking
  • Coordinate financing acquisitions with banks and liaise with lenders regularly
  • Assist in monthly financial reporting and end-of-month recordings

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role for a company with over $10 million in revenue
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP practices
  • Ability to handle debits and credits
  • Experience in bank reconciliations
  • Capability to prepare and understand financial statements
  • Accounting degree is required
  • Proficient in Excel and Word, with daily usage expected
  • Experience in trucking, mining, construction, transportation, or logistics is helpful but not required
  • CPA certification or progress towards it is preferred
  • MBA is preferred
