Job description

Corporate Financial Controller

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee all financial operations within our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting and monthly financial close, ensuring regulatory compliance, inventory accounting, audit support, and leading the accounting and payroll team to maintain accurate and timely financial records. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a growing organization. This role is pivotal in supporting the company's strategic objectives through sound financial management and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes
  • Manage financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Insurance Policy Management and renewals
  • Develop and maintain banking relationships
  • Manage relationships with US and Canadian tax authorities as needed
  • Assist with the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide cash flow analysis and forecasting support to leadership
  • Collaborate with leadership and upper management.
  • Maintain integrity of the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and day-to-day accounting operations
  • Budgeting and job costing
  • Work closely with the external consultant to ensure alignment of financial controls and policies
  • Oversee payroll staff and coordinate with the HR Department when necessary.
  • Prepare for external audits and assist with interim requests
  • Conduct internal audit when deemed necessary by the job incumbent and President.
  • Handle multi-county and multi-location accounting
  • Other duties as assigned by the President

Qualifications:

  • CPA license preferred but not required
  • Candidates should possess strong Accounting and Finance skills, including knowledge of GAAP and familiarity with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred
  • Must be able to handle fast-paced, high interaction volume environment
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager.
  • Experience managing monthly financial close, preparing financial statements, and audit compliance.
  • Occasional travel as needed
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP implementations is a plus.
