Position Overview

Vision IT is seeking an experienced COMSEC – Cyber Security Analyst to support mission operations at Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB). The selected candidate will serve as a Communications Security (COMSEC) Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for supporting the LAAFB COMSEC account and ensuring the secure management, control, distribution, and accountability of cryptographic materials and COMSEC equipment.

This position requires strong knowledge of COMSEC policies, procedures, and operational requirements within Department of Defense (DoD) environments. The candidate must be capable of independently performing all COMSEC duties and responsibilities, including during the absence of the Government COMSEC Representative.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a COMSEC SME supporting the LAAFB COMSEC account and associated mission operations.
  • Perform all COMSEC account management functions in accordance with DoD, Air Force, and local security policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accountability, inventory, control, distribution, and destruction of COMSEC materials and cryptographic equipment.
  • Support the secure handling, transfer, storage, and safeguarding of classified COMSEC assets.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable COMSEC regulations, operational directives, and security requirements.
  • Perform routine audits, inspections, inventories, and reconciliations of COMSEC materials and records.
  • Coordinate with Government personnel, cybersecurity teams, and operational units to support secure communications requirements.
  • Maintain accurate COMSEC documentation, logs, records, and reports.
  • Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions related to COMSEC discrepancies or security events.
  • Operate independently and perform all duties in the absence of the Government COMSEC Representative.
  • Assist with implementation and operation of AF Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) systems and processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support related to COMSEC operations and secure communications procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in COMSEC, cybersecurity, information assurance, or secure communications operations.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting COMSEC account management within DoD or government environments.
  • Strong understanding of COMSEC policies, procedures, accountability requirements, and cryptographic material handling.
  • Experience maintaining classified material accountability and secure operational procedures.
  • Ability to work independently in mission-critical and high-security environments.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with security requirements.
DCWF Requirement
  • DCWF Role: COMSEC Manager (723) – Advanced
Preferred Qualifications
  • AF Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) experience preferred prior to start date; training may be provided upon appointment.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Air Force or Space Force COMSEC operations.
  • Familiarity with classified communication systems and secure enclave environments.
  • Relevant cybersecurity or security certifications preferred.
  • Active Secret Clearance
