About the Role:
Wise Little Owls LLC is looking for a caring and enthusiastic Aftercare Classroom Assistant to join their team in Washington, DC! This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children by providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging afterschool environment. Position Information

  • School Year: 2026–2027
  • Mandatory paid staff training: Monday, August 24, 2026

  • Regular Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2:45 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.

  • First day working with children: Tuesday, August 25, 2026

  • Position: Aftercare Classroom Assistant
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and assist students during aftercare program hours in a safe and structured setting
  • Facilitating age-appropriate activities and enrichment programs
  • Help students with homework, reading, and other academic tasks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
  • Communicate effectively with administrative staff regarding student progress and daily activities
  • Encourage positive behavior and social development among students
  • Follow all childcare safety protocols and emergency procedures
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children in a childcare, school, or aftercare setting preferred
  • Genuine passion for child development and education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a positive, structured environment
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
  • Must meet DC childcare regulatory requirements, including background check clearance
