Pastry Assistant
Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting with all pastry production for the dining room, banquets, and all other functions in the Club. The Pastry Assistant follows pastry-related recipes, decorates pastry items for special events such as buffets and receptions, and for daily buffets. The ideal candidate will maintain the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards in pastry preparation and in the pastry shop.
Job Duties and Tasks
  • Plans, prepares, and/or decorates special pastry items as directed by Pastry Chef.
  • Ensures that high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained throughout the bake shop at all times.
  • Establishes controls to minimize food and supply waste and theft.
  • Follows and utilizes knowledge about safety, sanitation, and accident prevention.
  • Assists in developing bakery recipes and techniques for pastry production which help to assure consistent high quality.
  • Exercises portion control over bakery items.
  • Attends regular meetings with Executive Chef, and Pastry Chef as needed.
  • Consults with Executive Chef and Pastry Chef regarding pastry-related aspects of special events and banquet functions being planned.
  • Evaluates bake shop products to assure that quality and standards are consistently attained.
Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of pastry experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Must be able to manage time wisely.
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness.
  • Must be a self-starter with a strong sense of ownership for assigned areas.
  • Must be able to use good judgement and make impactful decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be well organized, with a focus on attention to detail.

Work Location and Hours
Marietta Country Club is located at 1400 Marietta Country Club Drive in Kennesaw, Georgia 30152. This is a full-time position scheduled Tuesday through Saturday 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. Some Sundays, Mondays, and holidays may be required.
Founded in 1915, Marietta Country Club is a member-owned club in Kennesaw, Georgia, located 28 miles from downtown Atlanta. The Club features 27 spectacular holes of Robert Cupp-designed golf, offering challenging risks and rewards for golfers of all skill levels. Set on historic farmland, the Club's "three nines" yield vistas of Kennesaw Mountain, beautiful lakes, ponds, and streams.
The Tennis facility includes 8 immaculately maintained HydroCourt clay courts and 4 all-weather Laykold hard courts. The Club has a Fitness facility including a weight room, locker rooms, and a group fitness room. The Pool complex includes the pool, pool pavilion, and snack bar. The Clubhouse consists of the administrative offices, kitchen, member dining areas, lounge, and banquet facilities.
