Required Education and Experience

  • Appropriate bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, animal science or related field.

  • Experience in performing benchwork

  • Experienced in handling rodents and maintenance of rodent colonies.

  • Experience with oral tissue biopsy and performing histological analysis.

  • Experience in liver or aging biology.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Research knowledge in liver or cancer biology

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Ability to provide a safe environment that fosters respect of all faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

Responsibilities

Experiments

  • Conducts experiments and technical procedures; carries out research problems; research literature relation to possible procedures and experiments; modifies procedures to suit the particular research needs.

Experimental Procedures

  • Maintains rat/mouse colonies; administer chemical and patch treatment; monitor treatment responses; conducts rat-based studies, such as biopsy and tissue harvesting.

Data Analysis

  • Prepares data for analysis and prepares samples.

  • Obtain original research results, organize and maintain inventory and equipment used in the lab.

  • Orders scientific supplies and equipment.

Writings/Publications

  • Assists in writing and/or edits for publication scientific material requiring academic knowledge; researches and catalogs reference materials requiring understanding of subject matter theory.

Meetings

  • Participates in lab meeting within the center and other departments. Participates in joint projects involving the laboratory team.
