The Position
The Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a critical role in driving CareVet's growth strategy by identifying, cultivating, and securing new partnerships with veterinary hospitals nationwide. This role requires a highly motivated professional with strong relationship-building, negotiation, and analytical skills who can balance strategic thinking with execution. The BDM will serve as a trusted advisor to prospective partners, ensuring alignment with CareVet's values while fostering long-term, sustainable relationships.
Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and pursue acquisition opportunities by prospecting and building trusted relationships with veterinary hospital owners and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects aligned with CareVet's growth goals.
  • Establish and grow a referral network within the veterinary community.
  • Lead discovery and strategy conversations with prospective partners to assess cultural alignment and business fit.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to prepare and present financial analyses, valuations, and proposals.
  • Provide clear, compelling recommendations that balance growth objectives with CareVet's mission and values.
  • Partner with internal teams (Operations, Finance, Legal, HR) to ensure seamless due diligence and integration processes.
  • Serve as a liaison between CareVet and potential partner hospitals to ensure transparent, timely communication.
  • Represent CareVet at regional and national industry events, tradeshows, and networking opportunities.
  • Act as an ambassador of CareVet's culture, mission, and brand.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, M&A, sales, or relationship management (veterinary industry experience required).
  • Proven ability to source, develop, and close complex business opportunities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • CRM proficiency (Salesforce).
  • Comfortable with 50%+ travel to lead locations by car and plane
  • Self-starter with high integrity, resilience, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Valid US Driver's License
  • Residence near a major metropolitan area in Chicago (or Surrounding large cities)
