Description:

The Building Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of building systems across multiple sites. We are looking for someone with demonstrated technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform routine property inspections and walkthroughs to identify and address maintenance needs.

• Organize, coordinate, and manage comprehensive maintenance programs, including preventive maintenance and repairs.

• Maintain and troubleshoot building systems, including:

o HVAC systems (heat pumps, cooling towers, boilers)

o Building automation systems

o Air handlers

o Electrical and plumbing systems

o Life safety, fire protection, and security systems

• Respond promptly to emergency calls and resolve issues efficiently.

• Obtain bids, negotiate vendor contracts, and assist with budget preparation.

• Maintain cost-effective inventory control and accurate reporting.

• Communicate effectively with property managers, ownership groups, and board members regarding maintenance projects and updates.

• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:


TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Education and/or Experience: Proven experience in commercial property maintenance or building engineering. Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to define problems and collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of technical information involving a few concrete variables. Need to be financially astute and have a thorough understanding of accounting principles including cash & accrual basis accounting methods and reading and understanding financials.

• Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations: A valid driver’s license and insurance.

• Computer Applications Skills: Ability to work in a Windows environment and with standard current computer applications.
