CES Consulting, LLC, is an engineering and construction management firm focused on quality, safety, compliance, innovation, and value. The firm was founded in 2010 by three professionals passionate about resolving complex construction, time, and cost issues to ensure that transportation and civil infrastructure are safe, durable, and compliant. Over the years, CES expanded its services to include utility management, construction at-risk, and civil engineering services.

We are seeking to hire Inspectors to support a long-term project in Lynchburg, VA.

Position Summary:

The Inspector will be responsible for ensuring contractors compliance through reviewing, interpreting, and enforcing plans and contract documents for efficient and timely inspection of the contractors work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Can work in a team environment to plan, coordinate, inspect, and oversee project activities of roadway, structure, and bridge, as well as District maintenance projects to ensure compliance with state standards and specifications.
  • Interpret Site Plans
  • Apply knowledge and experience toward the inspection of roadways and bridges using SHA standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Apply engineering principles in the inspection and documentation of construction activities.
  • Oversee and aid in the approval of Field Changes to meet field conditions.
  • Oversee, direct, and review the work of Inspectors and Inspector Trainees if placed as a Senior Inspector.
  • Maintain comprehensive project records and documentation using eMCMS and software.
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of Erosion and Sediment Control devices to ensure they are placed per the approved plan and within the required specifications.
  • Apply Best Management Practices to safety activities.
  • Communicate with various project stakeholders.
  • Assist with the development of change orders, investigations, and the analysis of Notices of Intent to File Claims (senior inspector level)

Education, Certifications, and Experience:

The Construction Inspector qualifications for this role include the following:

  • 1 + years experience in roadway or bridge construction inspection
  • 1 + years' experience in Traffic Signal Device Inspection
  • Must be current with the following certifications or the ability to obtain within 6 months from the start date:

o Concrete

o HMA (Asphalt)

o Soils & Aggregates (Including Nuclear Gauge)

o Pavement Markings

Sediment and Erosion Control

o SHA Erosion and Sediment Control Yellow Card (when on SHA ROW)

Temporary Traffic Control Manager

OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience operating laptop/tablet and software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Availability to work various shifts and on weekends (depending on project assignment)
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Ability to physically perform essential duties such as Walking, Standing, Bending, and lifting loads weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Able to pass a criminal background check.
