Roadway Engineer - Roadway Design 

Impact DesignsInc. 

Impact is experiencing tremendous growth in the transportation sector, and we're seeking a motivated Roadway Project Engineer to help propel our Roadway group to new heights. This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to both practice roadway and traffic design and step into meaningful leadership opportunities as our team and project portfolio expand. 


Key Responsibilities 


  • Perform conceptual and final design for roadway, highway, interchange access turn lanes, and urban roadway projects for both public and private sector clients.
  • Develop horizontal and vertical geometry, plan and profile sheets, typical sections, roadway cross sections, MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) plans, and utility adjustment plans 
  • Prepare and manage project schedules, budgets, and task assignments 
  • Serve as Task Lead, supervising design progress and coordinating with city, state, and county officials, outside agencies, and sub-consultants 
  • Review plans and prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates 
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced engineers and technical support personnel 
  • Support proposal development and contribute to business growth initiatives 
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned 


Experience: 

  • NC and SC Registered PE preferred or ability to obtain licensure in NC and SC within 12months 
  • Excellent engineering design, written, oral, and communication skills 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in roadway design 
  • Proficiency using Microstation, GuideSign, AutoCAD, Geopak, and/or Open Roads Experience with NCDOT and/or SCDOT as well as NC and SC municipalities is highly desired 
  • Experience developing plans and specifications NC and SC related projects 
  • Have working knowledge of NCDOT Guidelines for Highway Design and the FHWA Roadway Design Manual. 
  • MicroStation: 3 years (Preferred)
