Job description

Overall Purpose:

The Billing Specialist is responsible for processing billing, posting cash, and performing miscellaneous clerical functions under the supervision of the Billing Supervisor.


Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Billing Supervisor in the preparation and generation of monthly proformas
  • Process time entry edits and revisions, and generate client invoices
  • Assemble and distribute monthly proforma binders
  • Preform daily cash posting, including check copying and coding
  • Communicate effectively with billing professionals, assistants, and clients to resolve billing issues and ensure invoices are mailed timely
  • Escalate issues to the Billing Supervisor, when necessary, clearly articulating the problem and recommend possible solutions
  • Develop and maintain familiarity with client-specific billing guidelines and special fee arrangements
  • Research unallocated cash and process application and/or refunds
  • Enter personal charges into billing system
  • Review daily new matter memorandum for billing set-up and related follow-up
  • Pull back-up documentation for clients as required
  • Maintain weekly filing
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Software Knowledge:

  • Microsoft Office
  • Elite 3E, Elite Enterprise, or Aderant


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of legal billing experience required, e-billing preferred
  • Solid basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and calculation of percentages
  • Self-starter who proactively focuses on providing excellent and responsive client service
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Works well both independently as well as part of a team
  • Intermediate level in Excel and Word required
  • The ability and willingness to work extended hours (overtime) when necessary to meet client and firm deadlines
  • Ability to solve problems as they arise
  • Ability to prioritize, work efficiently under pressure
  • Punctuality and excellent consistent attendance


PHYSICAL DEMAND:


Lifting up to 25 pounds; kneeling, bending and lifting required. Typing/sitting at desk for extended periods of time; walking company floors to attend to business mattes in various departments. Must be able to sit down for several hours at a time, bend, stand, and reach regularly.



The salary wage range that we expect to pay for this position is from $65,000 - $75,000 and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of base salary at the time of posting. The actual salary offered may vary based on experience, qualifications or other relevant factors.
