Job Opening: Sushi Cook

Location: Flying Fish Public Market amp; Grill – Myrtle Beach, SC
Schedule: Part-Time and Full-Time Available | Evening Shifts (4PM–10PM)

Position Summary

We’re looking for a Sushi Cook to join our sushi bar team. This role is ideal for someone with solid sushi‑making skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment but is not looking for a lead or supervisory position. You’ll support the sushi chefs by preparing rolls, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring smooth service throughout the shift.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi according to Flying Fish recipes and standards
  • Assist with daily prep including cutting fish, preparing rice, and stocking ingredients
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe sushi station
  • Ensure freshness, proper storage, and rotation of all sushi ingredients
  • Communicate with sushi chefs, kitchen staff, and servers to keep service running smoothly
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable interaction with guests when needed
  • Uphold Flying Fish standards for presentation, consistency, and hospitality
Requirements
  • Previous experience preparing sushi in a restaurant setting
  • Strong knife skills and understanding of sushi preparation techniques
  • Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
  • Attention to detail and commitment to food safety
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn from senior sushi chefs
